Ashley holds a Bachelor of Forensic Science, Bachelor of Laws, and Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Newcastle. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and High Court of Australia.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Ashley practised as a solicitor with boutique litigation firms in Newcastle primarily in Family Law, Wills and Estates, and Civil Litigation with a commercial flavour. He now focuses his expertise on Family Law disputes where his interest and experience includes:
Ashley is a current member of the committee for the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners Association, having served in various roles on the committee over the years including as President. He is regularly invited to present papers at seminars and conferences and is periodically invited by the Newcastle University Law School to guest lecture in Family Law Practice, Evidence, and Courtroom Advocacy.
In 2020, he became a nationally accredited mediator and accepts briefs to mediate both parenting and property disputes.
He continues to service clients both in and outside of Newcastle – having conducted matters in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, the New England, the North Coast, the Central West, and Hunter Valley.
