About
In 2017, Alexander was awarded a Bachelor of Laws with first class honours and faculty medal by the University of Newcastle. Prior to this, he graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Commerce from the same university. He was admitted to practice in 2018.
During his studies, Alexander worked first for a Newcastle based accounting firm and later with a Newcastle based law firm. After graduation and admission to practice, Alexander remained with this firm as a solicitor, during which time he developed experience in a wide variety of areas of practice. He maintains a broad practice at the bar, and has a particular interest in the following fields:
- Commercial Law, particularly issues arising under the Australian Consumer Law and disputes relating to breach, enforcement and interpretation of contracts
- Industrial and Employment Law, particularly matters pertaining to the rights and obligations of employers and employees, unfair dismissal and general protections applications, the drafting and interpretation of industrial instruments and the doctrine of restraint of trade
- Family Law (Property and Parenting matters)
- Equity and Trusts
- Taxation Law
- Intellectual Property Law, particularly issues relating to ownership, infringement and barriers to registration, including objections to registration
- Asset Restraint and Forfeiture (Proceeds of Crime).
Alexander has reviewed and edited titles for Wolters Kluwer CCH publications, further details of which may be found here.
